Called as Heaven on earth, Jiuzhaigou Valley is a gift bequeathed by nature in one of China’s southwestern provinces, Sichuan Province. Lying in Jiuzhaigou County of the Qiang and Aba Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, the valley is known for its spectacular waterfalls and lakes, and gorgeous karst land forms. It has got the name Jiuzhaigou from nine Tibetan villages that are scattered throughout the valley. The Chinese word “Jiu” means nine whereas “Zhai” refers to village.Jiuzhaigou valley offers a magnificent landscape with the composition of flying waterfalls, bouncing streams, turquoise waters and verdant forest surrounded by snow-capped peaks. It is a home of rare animal species such as the giant panda.In spring, when the snow and ice begin to melt, the water and stream begins to flow as well as mountain flowers blossom.
The soft spring sun kisses the surface of the lake and makes the sight really touching and refreshing. In summer, the valley is overshadowed by green trees. The silver waterfall shows their most unrestrained feelings. There are many beautiful lakes, which are unblemished and pure.When summer is hot in most places, in the Valley you can feel very cool and comfy when you’re walking through the forest. Not only this, but Jiuzhaigou Valley also offers various summer activities.
The valley is a good place for hiking. There are four major hiking lines in the valley such as the Shuzheng valley, Rize valley, the Zechawa valley and the Zharu valley. October is the golden time to hike through this itinerary. At the end of the Zechawa valley there is Changhai which is the largest lake in Jiuzhaigou. With an altitude of 3,000m, this area is covered with snow all year round. It is pleasant to boat on Changhai lake in summer.
You can also ride your horse into the Monigou valley that is gathered with grassland, waterfall, hotspring and snow peaks. You can enjoy the beautiful scenery as well as experience the life of nomadic people on the horse back.
